Expert SBIR/STTR TABA Services for Life Science Innovators

You’re developing groundbreaking technology, and the SBIR/STTR program is an incredible way to fund that innovation. But the program requires more than just good research; it demands a clear and convincing plan for commercialization. That's where Technical and Business Assistance (TABA) comes in.

Emerging Innovations Consulting provides dedicated, expert TABA services to help you navigate the complex journey from the lab to the market. We partner with you to build a robust commercialization plan that strengthens your proposal and sets you up for long-term success. Unlike generalist consultants, we are PhD-led and specialize in the unique challenges faced by academic spinout and early-stage life science companies.

TABA Funding is part of a comprehensive NIH program intended to help small businesses identify and address their most pressing product development needs

What is TABA and How Does it Work?

TABA (Technical and Business Assistance) is a program that allows SBIR/STTR applicants to request additional funds specifically for commercialization activities. These funds are separate from your R&D budget and are designed to help you with things like market research, business strategy, and intellectual property planning.

  • Phase I: Up to $6,500 in TABA support

  • Phase II: Up to $50,000 in TABA support

When applying, you have a critical choice: use the agency's designated TABA vendor or select your own. While the government's vendors are a good resource for general needs, companies with specialized technology often require a more tailored, domain-specific approach to succeed.

That’s where we come in!
